Rolling Hills Covenant Church (RHCC) is trusting God to find their next Senior Pastor who will build on a rich legacy of ministry and community presence. Their sixth senior leader will have the opportunity to cast a compelling vision for the next season of gospel impact and influence for the region and around the world. RHCC is a church guided and obedient to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
RHCC is a large, multi-generational and multi-cultural congregation located in the South Bay of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. RHCC is a congregation within the Evangelical Covenant Church denomination.
RHCC has a dedication to global and local outreach supporting over 80 missionaries. Their campus is situated in a unique and strategic location with beautiful facilities and God has blessed the congregation with fiscal health.
In 1956 two separate groups of Christians—a group of young couples in Torrance and another group from a small Covenant Church in San Pedro—were praying about establishing a church in the South Bay. God soon brought them together and they embarked on a journey to form Rolling Hills Covenant Church. On April 14, 1957, the group of 52 members came together to worship and to thank God for their union and new church.
Throughout RHCC’s history they have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to be the best steward they can be of the resources God has entrusted to them and to leverage those resources for a greater impact for the Kingdom of God.
With God’s continued prompting, RHCC strives to maintain a vibrant missional sensitivity. They continue to pray for, call out, equip, and launch RHCC families or individuals into full-time cross-cultural missionary service each year, and they pledge a considerable portion of their funding needs from their church budget. RHCC’s faith family includes both Hispanic and Japanese congregations.
Through their local outreach efforts, they have committed themselves to serve others and share the gospel of God’s love in Christ relationally. They do this through intentional caring for the marginalized, welcoming visitors in their midst, reaching out to build relationships in their neighborhoods (personally and as a church), and introducing new friends to Christian community (Matthew 25:35; I Corinthians 9:19-23).

COMMUNITY & DISCIPLESHIP Scripture begins and ends with God calling humanity into relationship with the heavenly community and with one another. RHCC lives this out through our vibrant Life Groups. (Genesis 1:26-28; Revelation 20:7-10).

Exhibits the character qualities of a pastor and elder as outlined in 1Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and I Peter 5:1-4 and possesses the gift of pastor-teacher (Ephesians 5:1-4).
M.Div. or Th.M. degree preferred, graduate degree required.
Credentials of Ordination
Demonstrated skill and competency in the areas of teaching, preaching, leadership, team building, vision setting, organizational management, discipleship and interpersonal relationships.
Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in a multi-staff, multi-generational church context.
Be the primary voice of God from Scripture.
Be a man of prayer with dependence upon the Lord.
Be a team-leader and team-player leading and shepherding the staff and the congregation in heart and actions to fulfill God’s purposes.
Be a family man who leads with love, integrity and transparency both in the pulpit and in person.
Be a discipler of people. He will lead RHCC into becoming a disciple-making church.
The City of Rolling Hills Estates, situated on the northern side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, is one of fifteen cities comprising the South Bay; the region of the Los Angeles metropolitan area located in the southwest corner of Los Angeles County. It is 20-30 minutes from the Los Angeles International Airport and 30-40 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. Rolling Hills Estates is known for its ocean views, horse paths, three-rail trail fences, and rural ambiance.
The South Bay is one of the most culturally, economically, and ethnically diverse areas in the United States, with a largely even distribution of the population across African, Asian/Pacific Islander, European, Arabic, and Latino ancestry. The South Bay includes the Port of Los Angeles and is home to Southern California’s aerospace industry. Petroleum refining and automotive manufacturing are also major components of the local economy.
With its endless miles of suburban landscapes and dwellings, Los Angeles ranks number 18 out of 47 of the world’s largest megacities having more than 10 million people. Its current population is nearly 19 million inhabitants. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that from 2010 to 2017 the South Bay increased by 2,284 (2%). In 2018 its population was 140,327.
Popular destinations in Rolling Hills Estates include the George F. Canyon Nature Center, the Norris Theatre, South Coast Botanic Garden and Equestrian Center. Rolling Hills Estates has a population of over 8,000, a median age of 50, a median household income of $131,471 and a home ownership rate of 93% as of 2018.
A number of local attractions are easily accessible with the Staples Center, Venice Beach and the Santa Monica Pier all less than a 45 minute drive from Rolling Hills Estates.
