Bonhomme Presbyterian Church is a vibrant and evangelical Presbyterian Church with more than 200 years of history. The Bonhomme church family is friendly, enthusiastic and ready to welcome a new Executive Director of Contemporary Worship into their family, their hearts and their community.
The Executive Director of Contemporary Worship will work closely with the Senior Pastor to design the weekend service for the contemporary expression while also building relationships and strategically engaging the community. The Executive Director of Contemporary Worship will be a passionate worshipper, innovative in their approach and able to build teams. This role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity for creativity, artistic expression and passionate leadership.
Bonhomme is a place where faith grows. This faith community is rooted in prayer and discipled through worship. For the past 200 years Bonhomme has stood in the West County area of St. Louis as a beacon of hope that proclaims good news to their neighbors and the nations. Bonhomme is truly an intergenerational family that worships in 3 services each Sunday. Two services are traditional and one service that is contemporary in style.
The Senior Pastor’s energy and love for the people is contagious as one walks the halls of Bonhomme. The church has a beautiful and well-maintained campus that is ideally positioned in the community. The West County area is growing, and many international companies have a presence near the church.
Bonhomme has operated a successful preschool for 50 years. The preschool provides a wonderful opportunity to bring new families into the church. The harvest is ready at Bonhomme and the West County of Metro St. Louis.
The heart of Bonhomme is from their neighbors to the nations. This heart is seen in their numerous partnerships with local mission agencies. Additionally, Bonhomme partners with ministry connections in Honduras, Russia and provides support for several missionaries stationed around the world.
The Executive Director of Contemporary Worship will plan and lead the weekly Contemporary Worship service in such a way that Jesus is glorified, and His people are inspired to participate in faithful, energetic, and captivating worship. They will provide new enthusiasm in the Contemporary Worship Service through creative planning, musical excellence, skillful team building and a thoughtful theological perspective that informs his or her choice of worship content. This position will have the opportunity to Innovate and invigorate an existing contemporary worship service, while appreciating the rich heritage of this 200-year-old congregation.
The right candidate will be one who constantly seeks to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, a creative musician, with the experience and maturity to lead musicians and the congregation into genuine worship through music. This role requires a practiced manager who leads with humility and by example. She or he must understand the importance of structure, variety, and flexibility in planning and executing the ministry of worship and serving as part of a staff team.
Cultivate an intimate personal relationship with Jesus
Work in collaboration with, while under the ultimate direction of, the Senior Pastor
Cast a vision for an overall theology and philosophy of worship
Continually develop and hone vocal and instrumental skills
Recruit, train, engage, empower and retain skilled volunteers for the Worship and Production teams
Serve as the primary point of contact for all Contemporary Worship and Production volunteers
Schedule and coordinate staff and volunteer musicians, vocalists, tech and production teams for Contemporary Worship
Continually deepen an understanding of the worship of the Church through the ages, learning and drawing from historical and modern resources to craft an accessible and contemporary musical repertoire for the Contemporary Service
Work collaboratively as a member of the church staff team supporting the overall mission of the church
Engage with other ministry areas as an active member of the Church

Vocal and instrumental expertise

Three to Five years relevant music and worship leading experience
Fluency in at least one instrument, preferably two
Familiar with the musicality of a variety of instrumentation
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Proven track record of effective leadership
A High energy innovator with the patience to lead a congregation through intentional, growth-oriented changes
