Care Pastor - Bay Presbyterian Church

June 14, 2019

Bay Presbyterian Church (BPC) is seeking a passionate, devoted and empathetic pastor to lead its care ministries. Just west of Cleveland, this 1700-member church seeks a pastor with a longing to connect with and care for the needs of the congregation and wider community.

They seek an individual eager to organize the many effective care and counseling ministries of a church deeply committed to serving God by ministering to the needs of the church body and the community. In addition to shepherding long-standing care programs such as Stephen Ministry, recovery programs and the Deacon Ministry, this Pastor of Care is invited into the entrepreneurial legacy at BPC to imagine and implement new ways of supporting the needs of this dynamic, multi-generational church.

The Church

Bay Presbyterian Church is a community of 1700 members that faithfully calls and equips people to follow Jesus fully. They focus on loving God, loving others, and making disciples. True to its founding as a Sunday School for children over a century ago, BPC places a special value on children, marriages and families. BPC is seeking to become less a church with small groups and more of a church of small groups.

The church participates in various local ministries that invite membership to participate in evangelism efforts and engage with the most pressing needs in the greater Cleveland area. They actively partner with individuals and organizations engaged in global mission.

It is a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) denomination with a $3.2 million operating budget, an urban-based family ministry center and an onsite preschool. On average 240 students attend Sunday children's and youth programs.

Bay Presbyterian Church seeks to be an inviting community of Christ-Followers committed to the transformation of our lives, our families, our neighborhoods and the world through the surpassing power of the Gospel.

The Community

Clevelanders love their city and will tell you with a genuine smile, “Cleveland is a world-class city without the world-class ego.” Located on the lovely shores of Lake Erie, Northeast Ohio offers its residents everything from world-class cultural institutions, world-renowned healthcare and even a world-championship sports team.

Cleveland, with population just under 400,000 is the center of the Northeastern Ohio region of over two million residents, is experiencing a rebirth of sorts as millennials and empty-nesters are making their home in the downtown core in record numbers. Downtown Cleveland is abuzz with art galleries, community festivals, restaurants, breweries, the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame and much more. Despite this rebirth, Cleveland and Northeastern Ohio continues to be remarkably affordable for families to live in and thrive.

Bay Presbyterian serves the west shore of Cleveland. The Westshore continues to grow in both population and affluence, encompassing roughly 165,000 residents. Bay Village is among the most established communities BPC serves and contains the church building.
