Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church seeks to continue a 140-year legacy of reaching out and caring for this dynamic east San Francisco Bay community. They are seeking a Senior Pastor who will lead by example beyond their beautiful campus and into the neighborhoods and businesses that make this corner of the world what it is. The committed members of this church are eager to mobilize and engage the big questions of life and faith. They desire to love and accept people for who they are and demonstrate compassion through acts of service in their community.
“We desire to be a strong community reaching the unchurched with the Gospel, and in doing so, seeing God transform our lives, our neighbors, and our world.”
The community’s goal and passion is to be faithful to the Great Commission: to be a strong community that is reaching the unchurched with the Gospel and, in doing so, seeing God transform individuals, neighborhoods, and the world. Already responsive to emerging needs in the community, the leadership of this group of nearly 400 active attendees note a need to be united and renewed. Elders, deacons, and staff have been prayerfully discerning and discussing a new path forward.
Leadership is committed to nurturing a community that is united in Jesus Christ through worship, service, and reliance on prayer and Scripture. Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church is an ECO Presbyterian Church that was founded in 1878. The church maintains a high view of Scripture and a strong identification with the Reformed tradition. For decades this community’s ministry focus has been on world and local programs targeted to children and youth and they hope to continue to grow in these areas.
Walnut Creek, California
Our city enjoys some of the best weather of the San Francisco region. Once a quiet, distant suburb of San Francisco, Walnut Creek is a bustling center of commercial, retail, and urban living. Walnut Creek serves as a hub for its neighboring cities because of its location at the junction of the highways from Sacramento, San Jose, and San Francisco/Oakland and its accessibility by metro rail (BART). Because of this, Walnut Creek has experienced tremendous residential growth in its downtown core. Walnut Creek is viewed as a comparatively cost-effective alternative to living in San Francisco, while maintaining an active downtown neighborhood featuring hundred-year-old buildings alongside extensive high-end retail establishments, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
